During workshops students regularly ask me if they may make knobs, drawer pulls and finials from the MAKE-A-KNOB and MAKE-A-FINIAL KITS I offer (for sale on this website and at my studio). In response to these requests I now offer 2 DAY WORKSHOPS. This allows students to familiarize themselves with the glass, the flame and the process on day 1 while making glass beads. Day 2, students return with experience and enthusiasm and may choose to create beads, knobs, or finials. I offer students attending workshops MAKE-A-KNOB and MAKE-A-FINIAL KITS at a reduced price. Jewelry making! Students will learn to cut, shape, solder & polish silver. Starting with raw silver sheet or wire we will make a bracelet & set a stone in a ring. You will them make a design of your own choice! Marj has been missing working with precious metals especially silver. Being all encompassed in glass beadmaking since 1993 Marj has found little time to play with silver. Marj studied metalsmithing for many many years with master goldsmith Robert Emin. Marj has set up her new light filled studio by the sea with all new toys (tools)! "I love combining my handmade glass beads and one of a kind silver designs. I especially love hammering and filing silver!" says Marj excitedly! Now you too can make your own cool jewelry designs! Classes are on Monday nights from 5- 7 pm in Marj's Scituate studio. Classes are sold in blocks of 8 classes. Call or email Marj to learn next sign up date and cost for class.
Beginning Wednesday January 4th 2006 we will hold "Open Studio" or "torch time" from 10 AM to 10 PM. Here's how Open Studio works. Simply call and reserve a 4-hour (minimum) time slot for the time you plan to attend. The cost is $15 per hour (x 4-hour minimum = $60). This includes all the equipment, tools and regular glass rods you need. You may bring your own tools and/or glass. You may purchase the pricier glass and "toys" such as MAKE-A-KNOB KITS, silver leaf, murrini, dichroic glass etc. To qualify you must be a student of Marj, in other words you must have completed a glass beadmaking workshop taught by Marj. This assures Marj the proper safety guidelines have been correctly taught and executed by the student! Open Studio is held at Marj's Ellis House Studio. (Need directions?) | ||||
